Protecting your Vinyl Sheet floors at home will enhance the performance of your floor. Limit dirt and moisture that tracks onto the vinyl sheet floors in your home by placing absorbent
doormats at each exterior entrance. Entry door mats should have a non-staining back. Mannington recommends using latex-based driveway sealer on your driveway to reduce stains caused by asphalt tracking. Close window curtains or blinds to protect the floor from extreme sunlight. Support furniture with wide-bearing, non-staining
furniture floor protector pads, 1-inch diameter or larger and non-staining. Castered chairs or equipment should have a .75-inch min width, soft caster material to not stain or dent the floor. Metal chair legs that may rust should be fitted with
felt furniture pads that will not stain the sheet vinyl flooring. Fit narrow furniture legs with wide-bearing glides to minimize floor dents and scrapes. Use plywood or
felt-bottom furniture and equipment slides on the floor when moving heavy furniture or appliances to protect the floor from scrapes and gouges, even when the item has wheels.
Routine cleaning:
Vinyl Sheet floors should be
swept on a frequent basis to remove small bits of dirt that may scratch and dull the floor underfoot. Clean Vinyl Sheet floors routinely or as needed with
Mannington Award Series Rinse-Free Cleaner, proven effective - see product reviews by 1877floorguy.com customers. Dilute concentrated Rinse-Free Cleaner in accordance with label instructions. Use a
bucket and
wet mop for best results. Rinsing is optional. Allow floor to dry before use.
Initial Care:
Keep traffic light during the first 24 hours or so, after a new vinyl sheet floor is installed, so adhesive can dry properly. If the floor has seams, avoid stepping on the seams for 24 hours so seam sealer can dry. Avoid scrubbing or washing floor for at least 3 days following floor installation. Spot clean ONLY and avoid all seams during this time.
Spot Cleaning:
Wipe up spills as soon as possible to avoid floor stains. Spot clean as needed with
Mannington Ultra Clean spray cleaner and a clean cloth or have ready a spray bottle filled with diluted Award Series Rinse-Free Cleaner. Mannington luxury vinyl sheet and resilient floors have strong resistance to stains. Most spills clean easily. If a stain is left behind by a spill, remove any stuck-on substances with a dull knife, being careful not to scratch the floor, then follow with spot cleaning. Use
Mannington Award Series Heavy Duty Cleaner & Stripper and a white cloth, nylon pad or stiff bristle brush depending on the severity of the stain. This process works for most stains caused by food, beverage, lipstick, tar, oil, asphalt, grease, wax, and oil-based paints. Rinse area thoroughly once stain is removed. If stain persists, use stain removal instructions on
Mannington website- Vinyl Sheet Care & Maintenance pages. You will need to select your type of Vinyl Sheet flooring to find Care & Maintenance spot removal help.
